Now comes the winter of the great snow and freezing cold. The first couple of days were fun. Hey, we got snow and it's sticking for more than a few hours! Then it turned into days of being stuck on our little hill, because we don't have chains. Why? Because it isn't supposed to snow and stick like this where we live. (And trust me, even chains won't cut it in this stuff -- our neighbor has chains and is from Minnesota and he couldn't make it up the private drive last night).

Look, I'm not really complaining. We're warm and we've got the internet and TV and plenty of DVDs. We did have one day in this mess when things thawed enough for my husband to go out and shop, so we've got plenty of food. And fortunately we did all of our Christmas shopping online this year, so that was done well in advance of the storms. Still, I'm ready to be done with it. The novelty has definitely worn off. And we're wondering -- what's in store for us next winter??

LOL- Debbie! I'm sorry to burst your bubble but this is actually a normal winter. At least on my side of the mountains. When I was a kid we had three to four feet of snow most winters.
The cold, that's a little different. We usually aren't this cold this early.
Enjoy the snow it means more moisture for the mountains and the fields.
Hi Paty!
I'm not really complaining. Really, I'm not. I'm just laughing at myself because so far both winters we've been here have been unusual and I'm beginning to wonder if it's us. ;-)
This may be normal for where you live, but it really isn't normal for our location. An inch or two, sticking for a couple of days, yes, but not this -- we just got another couple of inches on top of the 4 or 5 that had already frozen over. Ah well, I'm taking lots of pictures and it is pretty. :-)
And just so I don't sound like a complete California wimp -- both my husband and I have lived in places where it snows *a lot*, though it was years ago. He lived in Tahoe and I lived in Pendleton. :)
